This is a shot of the first peak of the Chief. My parents didn't believe me when I told them we were hiking to the top. The peak is aprox. 600m above the trail head.

The trail to the peak is quite steep most of the time. This photo gives you a pretty good idea how steep an rocky the trail is.

The top of the first peak is extremely rocky. However, you do see the occasional shrub or small tree. There was also a chipmunk scavenging around for any scraps of food hikers might leave behind.
