Water


The water that I generate is based on the water technique used in "An Image Synthesizer" (Ken Perlin). It is largely the same, with a few small changes.


This image shows the bump mapping that is applied to the water. As you can see, the water doesn't look very realistic when only the bump-map is present.


This image shows what the water looks when the the surface is reflective. Note that I have used an approximation of Fresnel reflections. This causes the water reflectivity to vary with the viewing angle.


This final image shows the water after it has been bump-mapped and is made reflective.
